About Tank Radio

My Amateur Radio adventure started with an interest in weather spotting and RACES.  I was an active member of Ft Worth RACES group for 7 years straight.  I have been a part of multiple radio clubs and elected to a Hurst Radio Club Board Chair.

I started my YouTube Channel in the middle of the Covid pandemic because I was bored and tired of sitting around doing nothing.  Also, with a jabbing from Jason (Ham Radio 2.0), Mike (K8MRD Radio Stuff), and Josh (Ham Radio Crash Course).  The channel name came from a college nickname “Frank the Tank” and radios, plus my love of tanks.  So I slammed those together and we get \o/ TANK RADIO \o/

Currently, I love going on adventures.  Some previous trips have been to the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Parks.  I also make it out to the three major Ham Radio Conventions, Dayton Hamvention, Orlando Hamcation, and Huntsville Hamfest.  I also have activated countless Parks for POTA (Parks on the Air).

I am also not afraid to rolled up my sleeves and do kit builds, cracking open equipment and looking inside.  Past kits builds includes, Antenna Kits, DMR hot spots, CPAP battery backup system, and sattelites.
